Weekly Round-Up July 15-21 2013 by Mark Burgess

A quieter week on the racing front unless I have forgotten some major event due to posting this late. L

Alan Niblock was the first PWR home at Bromley Park Run and set a new PB of 18.58, dipping below 19 minutes for the first time. Also setting PBs were Alison MacOwan (23.24), Tony Bevan (23.31) and Helen Smithson (24.06), while Neil Baynes was rapid (21.14) in his first ever Park Run. Well done all!

In other Park Run action we had representatives at Bexley, Greenwich, Orpington. Jim Palmer and Laura Woodham meanwhile paid a visit to Southampton where they used to go to Uni. Well done Laura on setting a new PB!

Sunday was the National Lottery Anniversary Run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with the main attraction being finishing the race inside the stadium rather than all wearing identical blue ‘lottery’ t-shirts. At least 17 PWRs contested this 5 mile ‘race’ with Johnny Gill our fastest man (31.40) and Paula Dimond (38.19) our quickest lady. All seem to have enjoyed the thrill of running in the stadium - and seeing Sir Chris Hoy’s thighs in Sue Hanney’s case.
