Bromley parkrun continues to be the parkrun of choice for most of us, with PWR’s popping up as well at Greenwich, Orpington and Riddlesdown.
After lots of PB’s last weekend there were understandably only 2 PBs this weekend, for myself at Greenwich (yay!) and Vera Simms at Riddlesdown. PWRs picked between the Chislehurst Chase 10k, the Tonbridge Half Marathon with many PWR's turning up at WIllet Rec to run the PWR 10k route. Well done to the Group 1 ladies who completed their furthest run(s) so far- good work! Chislehurst Chase 10k Results are only published for the top 50 finishers; of which PWR managed 3 places: 27 John Perkins 44:33 34 Toby Walsh 45:07 45 Sam Perry 46:39 Mark Burgess, Janet Littlejohn and Moy McGowan all took part but no published times available. Tonbridge Half Marathon 5 members chose to take part in the Tonbridge Half Marathon. Jo Robinson completed her first half despite a funny moment at 10.5 miles, leading her to forage in the bushes for sugar in the form of blackberries, and Simon Dahdi finished his first half in a brilliant time especially considering he only decided to take the place offered up by Steve J Sam the night before! 63 SImon Dahdi 1:32:20 173 Andrew Breese 1:39:05 265 Grant Fripp 1:45:38 486 Peter Eves 1:55:28 872 Jo Robinson 2:22:43 New Forest Half Marathon Phil Morley ventured into the New Forest to complete the half marathon distance. 581 Phil Morley 1:59:50

Please see below the team lists for those of you who have volunteered to help with the Petts Wood 10k. Hopefully by now you will have heard from your team captain who will give you more details of your role, location, time expected etc on the day. If you have not- then please contact your team captain on the contact details provided below. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered- lets make it a brilliant day!
As per usual for a Saturday morning, PWR’s were found far and wide this week looking for
their 9am 5k fix. Most were to be seen at Bromley, where Andrew Breese, Natalie Compton and Sacha Townsend all achieved new PB’s. The Laing family took a trip to Greenwich parkrun (which isn’t in Greenwich, should you be wondering, but in Eltham) where Richard achieved a new PB on his second run. Stephen and Siggy Robson ran the Hilly Fields course in reverse to celebrate the first anniversary of their event. Spot the parkrun celebrity in their results this week. Finally, PWR’s were also spotted at Bexley, Maidstone and Orpington. Clearly Ray is a cross country convert following the joy of the Thunder Run back in July. Good to see your name in a results list Ray, its been a while. We were starting to worry that you had replaced your running hobby with fishing instead. Hazelmere Bolt for Bolty 5 mile Ray Sievey 0:50:26 Saturday afternoon was the annual Will Bolton Memorial Relays at Sparrows Den on a tough cross country course, not helped by the mornings deluge of rain. Think it was a bit of a mud fest. Never to be put off by the weather, PWR entered one men’s team who came 23rd out of 45 teams. Well done! Will Bolton Memorial Relays Mike Reeves 16:58 Matt Sellwood 17:17 Matt Jones 17:29 Dan Budgen 17:27 Sunday was fairly quiet on the racing front with many club members getting themselves prepared for upcoming marathons and half marathons. We had three members make the journey up north to take part in the Great North Run, this very busy and popular, but probably once in a lifetime half marathon, known for its crowd support throughout the whole length of the course. I'm delighted to have been asked to take on the role of PWR results reporter and therefore, here is the update for last week (1-8 September). Thursday 5th September saw the last race of the summer 5k(ish) Assembly league at Beckenham. 8 PWRs turned up to represent the club on this fast but hilly course. Most people chose Bromley this week, although we were represented at Dulwich, Hilly Fields and Orpington in addition. Nicola Thompson, Sacha Townsend and Stephen Faulkner all achieved course PB's.Brilliant effort. Great to see our club members contributing to the volunteer team at Bromley, Fiona Abiola Musa by pacing, and David Allison choosing to be the tailrunner and motivating some of the slower runners around the course. This event was highly recommended as a nice local, scenic race starting on the village green. It did not disappoint and apart from 'that hill' everyone seemed to enjoy the route. 27's PWRs took part and recorded some brilliant times. Oh, and most people got to give Kelly Holmes a sweaty hug. What more could you want in a race? Lots of prizes were won; Hannah Roberts as 3rd overall lady, Kate Suckling as 3rd lady F35-44, Johnny Gill and John Gurney 2nd & 3rd males 50-59, Richard Dunstan 2nd male 60+ and lastly the ladies team overall 2nd place.Phew! Lots of points won to contribute towards the Grand Prix, watch out for an update on the current standings from our resident stats expert, Natalie. Some club members chose to enjoy a bit of off road running instead of competing in the Grand Prix, taking a trip to the Eridge 10 mile 'proper cross country' race. 6 brave souls enjoyed a well earned pint (or three) after the challenging 10 mile course - Looks like these guys are more than ready for the start of the cross country season!

http://southernrunningguide.com/ Folks, A few people have asked if there is a copy of the 10k poster that they could have. So attached is a pdf which you can download and print. Please feel free to download and put up at your work, your school, your gym or even in your home toilet (if you have family members that are yet to sign up). Let's see if we can fill all 750 places available. Cheers Ray
Folks,
I now need to collect all of the gadgets (Watches, earphones, heart monitors' etc) and the Jackets that need to be returned. I will collect these before/after the club run next Tuesday. Please can you make every effort to get these returned to me. If you cannot make it yourself, maybe pass on the items to somebody who you know who can make it. I would like to get this done as quickly and smoothly as possible with out the need of driving around and having to chase people up. Thanks Ray |
